A new report has claimed that Viktor Gyokeres to Manchester United in the summer is unlikely despite the striker’s release clause.

Manchester United made only two signings in the January transfer market which are both defenders. Patrick Dorgu, a left-back, and Ayden Heaven from Arsenal who plays as a centre-back.

Despite the loan departure of Marcus Rashford and Antony, the club failed to bring in a new attacker to the team even though reports stated that Ruben Amorim wanted a new number nine.

However, Manchester United and Ruben Amorim will be looking at other targets for the striker position in the summer due to the club’s new approach in the transfer market.

Manchester United are prioritizing the striker position ahead of the summer and Viktor Gyokeres have been one of the top targets on the list since the arrival of Ruben Amorim in November.

The expectation was that Viktor Gyokeres would reunite with former manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford next season after the Portuguese manager publicly said that he would not sign any player from Sporting CP in January.

Viktor Gyokeres’ reuniting with Ruben Amorim might not happen after a new report from Laurie Whitwell who is very close with people at the club.

Viktor Gyokeres to Manchester United is unlikely

According to Laurie Whitwell, A reunion between Viktor Gyokeres and Ruben Amorim is considered unlikely at this stage. He wants to join a Champions League team and Manchester United are reluctant to commit such a large sum of money to a player who will turn 27 in June.

The reports also stated that the club’s strategy is to invest in younger signings and Ipswich’s Liam Delap fits the bill and may be affordable if the club is relegated.

Liam Delap has reportedly shown the type of aggressive running and presence that Ruben Amorim looks for in a striker and the club has tracked the former Manchester City player.

Chelsea are also interested in the player and have been monitoring him and Manchester City has a 40 million pounds buy-back clause.

Manchester United have also watched Bryan Mbeumo, most recently against Tottenham on February 2. A final decision on who to sign could be made at the end of the season.
