Manchester United’s new head coach, Michael Carrick has spoken about Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo’s role against Manchester United ahead of the Arsenal game.

Benjamin Sesko started the game against Man City from the bench, and some fans were wondering why he did not even get a single minute despite his recent form.

The striker scored a brace against Burnley in the 2-2 draw during Darren Fletcher’s first game in charge, and he also scored against Brighton in the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

This is why it came as a bit of a surprise to many fans that he didn’t start the game against Manchester City. Michael Carrick has spoken about it during his press conference ahead of the Arsenal game on Sunday.

Bryan Mbeumo started the game, and Michael Carrick revealed that he gave him a free role to drift. His plans were properly excecuted and he scored the first goal of the game at Old Trafford.

What did Carrick say about Sesko?

“It is not losing momentum. It was a team last week to go in a certain way. We are trying to improve him as much as possible, Carrick said.

“I don’t see it as anything other than pushing on and using what he has done as a stepping stone to do well here for a long time.”

On Bryan Mbeumo playing as a striker, Carrick said: “It is a variety in terms of strengths. I gave him a free role to drift. Ben [Sesko] is great on the line. Josh [Zirkzee] can do a bit, but he is very good at bringing players into it. It is great to have that flexibility in terms of carrying the game to the later stages”.

Manchester United will be looking to continue their good momentum in the next games, and a victory against Arsenal will be huge. Let’s see who starts the game as a striker.
