Manchester United loanees: Marcus Rashford and Ethan Williams shine for their respective clubs

Antony Dos Santos is not the only Manchester United player on fire since leaving on loan as Marcus Rashford and Ethan Williams stepped up for their respective clubs at the weekend.

Manchester United fought back from two goals down to a 2-2 draw at the Goodison Park stadium on Saturday afternoon while Marcus Rashford helped his team secure a huge three points later in the evening.

Manchester United sent some players out on loan in the winter transfer market, including some academy players who are yet to make their official debut for the club.

Marcus Rashford, Antony Dos Santos, and Tyrell Malacia are the three first-team players sent out on loan by the club last month. Both three players have been impressive for their respective clubs.

Antony has won three Player of the Match awards for Real Betis, scoring 3 goals so far while Tyrell Malacia helped his team secure qualification to the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Despite Manchester United’s lack of goals and options up front, the club let Marcus Rashford and Antony leave the club on loan in January without providing the manager with a replacement.

Marcus Rashford has started well for Aston Villa since joining the Premier League club on loan, he has contributed coming off the bench.

Antony revealed that he considered retiring from football at Manchester United

Published

on

Manchester United loanee Antony Dos Santos has revealed that he considered retiring from football during challenges off and on the pitch in Manchester.

Antony completed a loan move to Real Betis in the second half of the season, two months after the appointment of Ruben Amorim. Antony is now a different player compared to what everyone saw at Manchester United in past seasons.

The Brazilian winger joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022 for a fee worth over 100 million euros. He managed 12 goals for the Red Devils during his time at the club and was branded a flop as he failed to meet expectations.

Playing for Manchester United comes with a lot of pressure, and some players struggle to cope with the pressure that comes with wearing the shirt, as the expectations are high.

Speaking to TNT Sports Brazil, Antony got emotional during the interview as he explained what he went through during his stay at Manchester. Erik ten Hag also revealed during his time at the club that Antony’s form was impacted by off-field problems.

“I always say that I had good moments, but I had very difficult moments too. Not only on the field but off it. People who ended up disturbing me a lot mentally, Antony told TNT Sports Brazil.

“I went through some very difficult times there that ended up affecting me a lot. But I am very grateful even for these difficult moments that I went through. Today, I feel much more mature, much more prepared, and I feel much better.

“It was a moment when I thought about stopping playing. I no longer felt that desire to play football because of everything I was going through, because of all the accusations, and because I had remained silent for so long.

“[My career] has changed a lot [at Betis]. It changed a lot because I needed to find myself, for everything I went through there in my personal life. I wanted to do things, but it seemed like it wasn’t happening because I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t feeling that desire to play football anymore, and I needed to find myself.

“Playing football was always something that I loved, and I went through difficult times when I didn’t feel that pleasure anymore.

“I would always talk to my brother, I used to say, ‘I can’t do it anymore, I can’t do it anymore’. He said: ‘Hold on a little longer and things will change’.

“I even get emotional because it was very difficult for me. Only I know what it was like inside the house, not even having the strength to play with my son, having days without eating, staying in my room.

“It was very complicated, but with the help of my family with the help of God, I managed to turn things around. I’m already very happy here.”

Antony has played a key role in Real Betis’ success this season, since he joined the club in January, and will face Chelsea on Wednesday in the Conference League final, hoping to lift the trophy.

“He wanted revenge at Betis, and he did it in a way. We know he can do it, but it is not easy when you pay €100M for a player. He is a great player, and it was a good time in Betis improving in his career, Real Betis manager Pellegrini on Antony ahead of the final.

Luis Campos to Manchester United? – Fabrizio Romano reveals the truth behind links

Published

on

A new report from France states that Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to appoint Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, Luis Campos.

Manchester United’s major aim in the summer transfer window is to bring in players that suit Ruben Amorim’s system, and work has begun behind the scenes on players they want to sign.

Manchester United has Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and Christopher Vivell running things from the inside, but Dan Ashworth, who was appointed as Manchester United’s sporting director last summer, was dismissed.

However, the club has been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director and former Chelsea academy chief Jim Fraser, as Jim Ratcliffe sees him as a key capture as they plan to sign leading young talent for the future.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now clarified the situation on his YouTube video, stating Manchester United’s stance and the important role Luis Campos has played at PSG.

Luis Campos to Manchester United?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are not in negotiations to appoint Luis Campos at the moment.

He also stated that Paris Saint-Germain sees him as an important part of their project, and he is more than a sporting director at the club. He has played a big role in the club’s recent success with his recruitment strategy.

At this stage, it’s unknown whether Manchester United are looking to hire a new sporting director, following the departure of Dan Ashworth this season. The club has appointed Christopher Vivell permanently, and Jason Wilcox has taken more responsibility.

Manchester United are already drawing up a list of targets ahead of the summer transfer window, and Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha has emerged as a top target for the number 10 role under Ruben Amorim.

Reports have confirmed that Manchester United are prepared to trigger his release clause, and the player is willing to join the club with or without UEFA Champions League football.

Jason Wilcox and Vivell are working closely in the recruitment department as they look to bring in top talent for the academy and first team. It seems clear that the club will not be bringing in a new sporting director this summer.

Will Casemiro leave Man United? Fabrizio Romano gives an update on his future at Old Trafford

Published

on

Casemiro’s future at Manchester United is still in question despite his transformation under Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim.

Casemiro was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the last two transfer windows, due to his form at the club and his relationship with Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.

The 33-year-old Brazilian was Manchester United’s best player during his first season at the club. He did really well under Erik ten Hag, but at some point, he lost his starting position under the manager.

Casemiro was dropped from the Matchday squad that faced Manchester City in the FA Cup final, despite not being injured. Erik ten Hag decided to start Sofyan Amrabat instead.

Casemiro regained his starting position at Manchester United following the sacking of Erik ten Hag. Although the Brazilian midfielder scored the last goal during Ten Hag’s era.

Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge as Manchester United’s caretaker manager. He started Casemiro in his first game in charge against Leicester City, and he scored a superb goal from outside the box, as he inspired Man United to win.

Will Casemiro leave Manchester United?

Casemiro can still leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window if the player receives a good proposal and if Manchester United are also happy with the offer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The report also stated that Casemiro is very happy at Manchester United, of course with his family, but there’s still a possibility of him leaving if he receives a good proposal.

Casemiro is reborn under Ruben Amorim after a very tough start under the manager. He is very happy with the player, his mentality, and the hard work he has put in to get back into the team.

Sources say Ruben Amorim told Casemiro in a face-to-face meeting how grateful he is for the professionalism and how he is setting an example at Carrington. The relationship between the pair is very good now, per Fabrizio.

Amorim has been impressed by how hard Casemiro has worked to meet his demands to regain his place in the team. He noticed that he never complained during those winter weeks warming the bench.

People at United’s Carrington training complex noticed Casemiro’s personality never wavered during a trying first half of the season. They have always found him to be a warm presence, according to Samuel Luckhurs.

“He has improved a lot, you can see it not in the way he plays, but in the way he runs. We have data that shows he has worked very, very hard. He is a very good example. He wasn’t playing. Even Toby [Collyer] sometimes played in front of him. And now it is difficult to take Casemiro off. So it is a lesson for all the Manchester United players: no matter the past, everything can change in an instant”, Ruben Amorim said about Casemiro.

“We understood that he couldn’t press high all the time. Sometimes it is better to let him be the fourth defender and let the Pistons press high. We understand these little things, we try to adapt to the characteristics of the team. But the credit goes to Casemiro.” He added.

Harry Maguire made one request as he decided on his future at Old Trafford under Amorim

Published

on

As the summer transfer window draws closer, Harry Maguire has made one request from the Manchester United board about his future at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim.

Harry Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City for a fee worth 80 million during the reign of club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Maguire did well in his first season, playing every Manchester United Premier League game that season.

However, criticism and the pressure of playing for Manchester United got to him when things went from good to bad under Solskjær. Harry Maguire was dropped from being the club captain under Erik ten Hag.

The 32-year-old found his best form following the arrival of Ruben Amorim in November. The manager came in with a different idea, but Maguire has played and flourished in a back-three defence before, which is why he is doing great under Amorim.

Harry Maguire has played a big role in Manchester United’s success in the Europa League so far this season. He has also scored some crucial goals for Ruben Amorim this season, being deployed up front alongside strikers.

Harry Maguire wants a new contract

According to the Telegraph, Harry Maguire wants a new contract at the club, and he ideally wants to end his career at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s plan under Erik ten Hag was to sell Harry Maguire and invest in a new centre-back. The club came close to selling him to West Ham United, but in the end, he stayed.

Harry Maguire wanted to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place in the starting line-up, and he has achieved that. Maguire is currently one of the most important players at the club.

However, his current contract with the club will end in June 2026, after the club triggered the one-year option in his deal, a few months ago. Manchester United will decide on Harry Maguire’s future, likely before his current deal expires.

“I think he [Maguire] sees himself differently. He believes in himself a lot. I think he should be congratulated and not me. He’s doing a very good job. He has to keep going like that,” Ruben Amorim speaks highly of Harry Maguire.

Harry Maguire is also seen as a leader in the team, although he is no longer the captain, but he has done well helping young players in the dressing room and giving them confidence.
