Kobbie Mainoo’s new contract talks at Manchester United have resumed after the sacking of Ruben Amorim and the arrival of Michael Carrick.
Manchester United’s talented midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo, asked the club during the summer transfer window to be allowed to leave on loan, with about 10 to 12 clubs interested in signing the youngster.
The England international was seeking game time and to develop ahead of the World Cup, as he was not playing under Ruben Amorim. The former Manchester United head coach told Kobbie Mainoo that he has to fight for his place with Bruno Fernandes.
Kobbie Mainoo and a lot of Manchester United fans didn’t agree with Ruben Amorim’s comments because Bruno Fernandes is a crucial player at the club and is undroppable.
Despite that Ruben Amorim feels that Kobbie Mainoo didn’t suit his system and needs to work on his physicality, the club declined his request to leave in the summer and wasn’t even open to letting him leave this winter.

The arrival of Manchester United legend Michael Carrick has changed Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at the club, and the player is very happy as he feels important at the club now, unlike before under Ruben Amorim.
Kobbie Mainoo contract talks
Manchester United have contacted Kobbie Mainoo’s camp to reopen talks over a new contract, according to multiple reports. MailSports reported that a new deal was agreed with Kobbie Mainoo, but Ruben Amorim didn’t sign it off.
Kobbie Mainoo is now expected to stay at Manchester United and sign a new contract at the club, especially after the pending departure of Casemiro, who will leave at the end of the season.
What did Carrick say about Mainoo ahead of the Arsenal game?
Michael Carrick has revealed that he has been working with Kobbie Mainoo when he was 13 to 14 years old. “I’ve really enjoyed working with Kobbie. I’ve known him since he was young. I think I started working with him a little bit when he was 13, 14 years old, when I was going through my badges, the coach said.

“This club needs young players coming through and being the foundation, to understand what it means. It’s something we need to grasp and keep building on. Kobbie is a prime example; to have had a rapid rise and impact those big games at such a young age shows an awful lot of quality in terms of the character to be able to handle it.
Carrick continued: “Part of a career is a few ups and downs, but we saw last week what he can bring. He is quite straight-faced, but you could see the way he played and expressed himself; he was enjoying himself. To see him like that was great.”
