Youri Tielemans has dismissed accusations surrounding Marcus Rashford’s professionalism and commitment, praising the forward’s work ethic and mindset during their time together.
Rashford returned to Manchester United following a loan spell at Aston Villa, where he played alongside Tielemans. Despite facing scrutiny over his dedication in recent seasons under previous management, Tielemans insists the reality of working with the England forward tells a very different story.

Speaking in an interview on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Tielemans highlighted both Rashford’s quality and his application in training and matches:
- On Commitment: “There was such a big thing made out of him that he wasn’t committed or wasn’t in it for the right reasons… you see the player coming in and it’s completely opposite from what you hear. He was committed. He was doing the work.”
- On Team Impact: “He brings his qualities to the team and he just plays… to have him fit and ready to go with us would be great.”
- On What He Needs to Succeed: “I think he needs us. That’s it. I think he just needs support behind him. And he would always create something.”
With Manchester United preparing for the upcoming season under head coach Michael Carrick, Tielemans’ backing adds positive momentum as Rashford seeks to re-establish himself as a pivotal figure in the squad.
