Manchester United’s summer recruitment drive has taken another intriguing step forward as the club continues to balance marquee additions with future-proofing their squad development pipeline.
In an official announcement on Monday, the Red Devils confirmed the arrival of highly-rated shot-stopper Kit Margetson from Championship side Swansea City.
Manchester United have agreed the signing of exciting young goalkeeper Kit Margetson, subject to registration. The 20-year-old was most recently at Swansea City, a club he’d been with since under-15s.
Last season, he had his first taste of senior football on loan at Connah’s Quay Nomads and kept 10 clean sheets in 34 appearances, helping the Welsh side to qualify for European competition.
Margetson has also earned youth international caps for Wales and made his Under-21s debut against Belarus in March.

The son of former Wales and Premier League goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, the 20-year-old brings impressive credentials despite his youth.
His loan spell in the Cymru Premier with Connah’s Quay Nomads proved pivotal, demonstrating senior composure, sharp shot-stopping reflexes, and commanding box management beyond his years.
His international recognition with the Wales U21 side further underlines the pedigree United are bringing into Carrington.
Will He Join the First-Team?
Manchester United haven’t indicated in their statement what to do with the young, talented goalkeeper. But it’s most likely he will join the academy.
With the senior goalkeeping department heavily stacked and established under head coach Michael Carrick, immediate first-team minutes at Old Trafford are improbable for the teenager this season.
Instead, Margetson is expected to link up with Travis Binnion’s Under-21 setup to compete in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
This move allows Margetson to refine his distribution under elite coaches while working alongside senior professionals during select first-team training sessions—positioning him as a potential long-term asset for the Red Devils down the line.
