Even a late look at Spain Under-19 international Jorge Salinas, whose move to Atletico Madrid collapsed, was ultimately shelved.
This strategic restraint leaves the club heavily reliant on Luke Shaw, whose fitness record remains a persistent worry heading into a demanding Champions League campaign.
With Tyrell Malacia having departed at the end of last term, United will now look to right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui to shift across when required, alongside Patrick Dorgu. Crucially, 19-year-old academy product Harry Amass has been retained despite strong Championship interest, thrust into the spotlight as the squad’s primary internal safety net for a grueling season ahead.
