Manchester United are closing in on a high-profile move to sign 22-year-old midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Head coach Michael Carrick has made reinforcing the Old Trafford engine room a top priority, and United have now lodged an official proposal worth roughly £60m plus an additional £5m in performance-related add-ons.
While the £60m+ offer sits slightly below Brighton’s original valuation, amicable talks continue between both clubs as all parties work constructively to reach an agreement before the transfer window closes.
Baleba, who joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, has developed into one of the most dynamic young defensive midfielders in European football. His athletic ball-winning ability and press resistance are viewed internally at Carrington as the perfect fit to complement recent arrivals Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
