Chido Obi set for Manchester United first-team involvement ahead of Tottenham clash

Chido Obi has been training with the Manchester United first-team squad and is reportedly in contention to be involved in the weekend’s game against Spurs.

Manchester United are set to resume Premier League action on Sunday against Tottenham after winning 2-1 over Leicester City in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford.

Chido Obi is set for first-team involvement

During Ruben Amorim’s press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of the game, the manager revealed that some players are a doubt for the Tottenham clash.

With the lack of attacking players in the team and Ruben Amorim saying that some players are in doubt for the game, 17-year-old Chido Obi could be involved in the Spurs match.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Chido Obi has trained with the Manchester United first team this week and is set to be involved at the senior level.

A new report from AcademyScoop, who is reliable has stated that the prospect of Chido Obi being called up to the Manchester United first-team squad for the game against Tottenham appears increasingly plausible.

Ruben Amorim was asked about the possibility of involving academy players in the senior team, including Chido Obi. “I don’t want to give names. We have to be careful about this. We have problems this week, we have called up some young players to participate in our training. He is one of them.” Ruben Amorim said.

Ruben Amorim has received a huge boost ahead of the Europa League game against Real Sociedad as Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte make a return from injury.

Manchester United will resume Europa League action on Thursday as they take on La Liga outfit Real Sociedad in the second leg of the round of 16 tie.

Ruben Amorim’s team drew 1-1 when they traveled to Spain on the 6th March, but Manchester United was close to a victory after Joshua Zirkzee’s goal. Real Sociedad found a way to equalize after VAR awarded a penalty for Bruno Fernandes’s handball.

There was an improvement in terms of performance in the last two games. Their last Premier League game against Arsenal also saw the team come close to a victory.

Ruben Amorim has been coping without some of his first-team players over the past weeks with Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez likely ruled out of the season.

However, the Portuguese manager has received a bit of good news ahead of the Europa League game against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford.

Mount and Manuel Ugarte back to training

Manuel Ugarte has been out since the FA Cup match against Fulham which saw Manchester United knocked out of the competition. The midfielder played only 53 minutes after he suffered a knock.

The club has confirmed that the Uruguay midfielder has returned to team training at Carrington on Wednesday morning ahead of the game against Real Sociedad.

Will Mason Mount play against Real Sociedad?

Mason Mount is unlikely to be available for Manchester United’s game against Real Sociedad as it’s too soon for him, but he is back to team training and close to playing again.

Ruben Amorim is desperate to get and keep Mason Mount fit as he views him as an ideal fit for one of the No. 10 roles in his system, according to James Ducker.

There’s a possibility that Manuel Ugarte will be ready to face Real Sociedad, but Mason Mount is not ready yet. The likes of Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, and Kobbie Mainoo were not spotted in training.
