Kobbie Mainoo's new position - Ruben Amorim must continue to play star in his new role

Manchester United’s youngster Kobbie Mainoo could have found his perfect role in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system after the performance on Thursday.

Manchester United ended their first phase of the Europa League tournament with a massive win against Romanian club FCSB on Thursday night.

Ruben Amorim and his men secured automatic qualification to the next round of the competition and they have successfully avoided a play-off after finishing third position in the table.

Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo scored the goals for Manchester United after a goalless draw in the first half. The involvement of Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho changed the game for Manchester United with the Argentine international assisting the last goal.

Kobbie Mainoo was arguably the best player on the pitch on Thursday night with Ruben Amorim playing the England international in a new position for the first time.

Kobbie Mainoo’s new position under Ruben Amorim

Kobbie Mainoo started his first European game for Manchester United on Thursday and Ruben Amorim decided to play him in the number 10 role.

He assisted Manchester United’s first goal of the game and scored the second with a lovely finish. Kobbie Mainoo was playing freely and doing less defensive work. He enjoyed his role against FCSB, according to the manager.

In our opinion, Ruben Amorim should continue to play the midfielder in that position and we are yet to see the best of him in a Manchester United shirt.

The number 10 role is something Manchester United has been wanting the manager to play Kobbie Mainoo and it finally happened in the Europa League against FCSB.

Bruno Fernandes started the game by forming a pivot with young talented midfielder Toby Collyer. Christian Eriksen started the game alongside Kobbie Mainoo with Manuel Ugarte rested.

The fans will understandably want to see more of Kobbie Mainoo in the number 10 position under Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United must keep Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are one of the exciting players coming through the Manchester United academy, but reports have claimed recently that the club are open to an offer for them.

Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move away from the club with Chelsea and Napoli showing an interest in the Argentina international.

Ruben Amorim said after the Europa League game on Thursday that he wanted to keep Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho at the club despite that the club needs to sell academy players due to PSR. Selling an academy player is seen as pure profit in the book.

Kobbie Mainoo is still in talks with the club over a new contract, but no agreement reached with reports claiming that the club will be open to selling him at the right price.

Although, Manchester United are not actively looking to sell these players and have rejected two bids from Napoli for Alejandro Garnacho.

Ruben Amorim may play a crucial role in keeping Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho at the club

Published

on

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim may be instrumental in keeping academy stars Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho at Old Trafford next season.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have been strongly linked with a move away from the club in the past few months and rumors have stated that one of the players or both could depart in the summer.

Manchester United wants to make a massive clear-out in the summer so the club can sign players who fit into the manager’s style of play. The club are still assessing the players ahead of the summer.

However, the club can generate funds by selling academy players and it will help the club in terms of PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules) as selling academy players is seen as pure profit for the book.

The expectation now is that Manchester United would be open to selling Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in the summer for the right price with the club already struggling to reach an agreement over a new deal with Mainoo.

Will Mainoo and Garnacho leave?

There’s a huge possibility that Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho stay at Manchester United next season with Ruben Amorim speaking positively of Garnacho lately and reports are suggesting that Mainoo’s camp and Manchester United will have a meeting about his contract in the coming days.

Despite that Kobbie Mainoo has been injured and couldn’t play much under Ruben Amorim yet, the manager has been clear about his intention to keep Garnacho at the club. The fans agreed with him about his comment earlier this year.

“It’s true [that clubs can generate money by selling academy players], but I want players like Kobbie [Mainoo] and Garnacho, Ruben Amorim said.

Marcus Rashford’s sale could also play a part

Marcus Rashford signed for Aston Villa during the winter transfer window on a loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. Rashford came through the academy and his sale could help keep Mainoo and Garnacho.

The option for Aston Villa to sign Rashford on a permanent deal worth over 45 million pounds. Christain Eriksen and Jonny Evans who are expected to leave will also help free up wages.

Will Amad Diallo return from injury before the end of the season?

Published

on

Ruben Amorim recently provided an update regarding Manchester United winger Amad Diallo’s injury, including whether he can play for the club again this season.

Amad Diallo’s last game for Manchester United came in a 2-1 win in the FA Cup against Leicester City at Old Trafford.

The Ivorian winger played the full 90 minutes against Real Sociedad without any injury problems but sustained a serious injury during training the following week.

Ruben Amorim confirmed that Amad Diallo injured himself while working alone in training. Kobbie Mainoo has been out injured since then and is yet to return to team training, but the manager has said that he expects him to play again this season.

The good news is that Mason Mount has now returned to first-team training on Wednesday morning but will be unavailable for the game against Real Sociedad. The midfielder has been out for 12 weeks but is close to playing again.

Will Amad Diallo play again this season?

Yes, there is a big possibility that Amad Diallo will play for Manchester United before the end of the season. Ruben Amorim has said recently that he could be back in the last month of the end of the season.

Amad Diallo could still make a huge impact in Manchester United’s season especially if the club makes it to the Europa League final. Amad returning is a possibility that cannot be ruled out.

Although, no indication that Lisandro Martinez will play for the club again this season, he has been spotted supporting the team during home matches this season and is a very good leader in the dressing room.

The likes of Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo have also been to multiple games while injured. Both players are likely to play again this season, but Mainoo’s chance is very huge.

18-year-old talented centre-back could make his debut against Ipswich after another injury blow

Published

on

Manchester United’s talented defender could be in line for his debut on Wednesday against Ipswich Town after another fresh injury case.

Ruben Amorim and his team will resume Premier League action at Old Trafford after the weekend’s hard-fought 2-2 draw against David Moyes’ Everton.

Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte’s goal secured one point for the Red Devils after going 2 goals down in the first half. Manchester United remained at the bottom of the Premier League table after the draw.

Manchester United will host Ipswich Town at midweek and Ruben Amorim will be looking for a win after failing to win his last three games in the League.

Manchester United have had some serious injury cases over the past few days with the manager set to coup without Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez until next season. The Argentina international sustained a serious injury in the 0-2 defeat against Crystal Palace while Amad got injured during training.

Ruben Amorim lacks attacking options in the team with Amad Diallo ruled out of the season and Antony and Marcus Rashford sent on loan without replacements. The club brought in two defenders in the winter, Dorgu and Ayden Heaven who is set to provide cover for the injured Martinez.

When will Ayden Heaven make his Manchester United debut?

Ayden Heaven could be in line for his Manchester United debut against Ipswich Town on Wednesday after a new report stated that Noussair Mazraoui picked up an injury to his knee during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at the Goodison Park stadium.

The report from ESPN also stated that further tests will take place on Monday to see whether the Moroccan defender will be available for Ipswich.

Ruben Amorim will be left with a few defensive options if Mazraoui can’t play vs Ipswich and 18-year-old Ayden Heaven who joined from Arsenal last month may be called upon.

Ayden Heaven was signed to provide cover or competition for Lisandro Martinez, but he has yet to play since the Argentina international sustained an injury. He only featured for the Manchester United under-21 once.

Ruben Amorim has decided to prioritize signing Osimhen but could face the same situation as Chelsea

Published

on

A new report has stated that Manchester United and Ruben Amorim have decided to prioritize signing Super Eagle striker Victor Osimhen in the summer.

Manchester United are almost in the relegation zone in the Premier League table with the result yet to improve under Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese manager came in with a different system which he has been using to flourish over the past seasons, but the Manchester United players are still adapting to the style and results have been poor.

One of the major issues at the club is the lack of goals. Ruben Amorim’s team has been struggling in front of goals despite the availability of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

With Amad Diallo currently out of the season due to an injury he suffered in training, the club can’t bring in any new signing at this stage unless they look at the free-agent market. Although, they have made the striker position a priority in the summer.

Manchester United have been linked with a lot of strikers in the past few weeks, including Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen who is on loan from Napoli.

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Ruben Amorim and the club have decided to prioritize signing Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.

United could face the same situation as Chelsea

Manchester United could be in the same situation that Chelsea found themselves during the last summer transfer window. The Blues agreed on a fee with Napoli for the signing of Victor Osimhen as a new striker but failed to agree personal terms with the player.

The reports from GiveMeSport have stated that Manchester United are hoping to convince Victor Osimhen to take a pay cut to fit him into their salary structure as the 26-year-old is currently on more than £250,000-per-week salary.

A few months ago, Victor Osimhen refused to take a pay cut to join Chelsea before Galatasaray came in to sign him on loan at the last minute. The Turkish club agreed to cover his salary at Napoli until the end of the season and he has been impressive this season.

Manchester United may find themselves in the same situation despite deciding to pursue a deal in the summer. The club are also interested in Liam Delap and Sesko.

Who is better between Chido Obi and Hojlund? fans are saying the same thing after Everton’s performance

Published

on

Manchester United fans are saying the same thing after Chido Obi came on for Rasmus Hojlund in the 2-2 draw vs Everton.

Manchester United visited an in-form Everton on a Saturday afternoon and took one point after being down with two goals in the first half.

Ruben Amorim and his team are currently 15th in the Premier League table with 30 points. Amorim took charge after Erik ten Hag in November with a new style of play that the players are finding it difficult to adapt to.

Everton were all over Manchester United in the first half, scoring two early goals. The first goal came from Beto in the 18th minute and the header from Doucoure made it 2-0 in the 33 minutes.

The game saw Chido Obi get some minutes under his belt after the teenage talented striker debuted for the club a few days ago against Tottenham.

Chido Obi came off the bench for Manchester United in the 70th minute of the game with Ruben Amorim’s side still two goals down at the Goodison Park stadium.

Who is better between Hojlund and Chido Obi?

Rasmus Hojlund was impressive during his first season at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, but he has struggled to find his form back and the fans have started to doubt him. He hasn’t scored a goal for the club since the start of 2025 and the fans are calling for a change.

17-year-old Chido Obi was currently introduced to the first team due to injuries suffered and the transfer market has closed. He debuted for the club against Tottenham and came on for Rasmus Hojlund in the 2-2 draw vs Everton on Saturday.

Chido Obi’s touches, positioning, passes and hold-up play are better than those of Rasmus Hojlund at the moment. The fans are saying the same thing on social media. They believe that Chido Obi should start ahead of him despite his age.

Chido Obi is very young and the manager doesn’t want to put him under pressure at his age. His minutes at the club would be monitored, but he could stay around the first team until the end of the season.
