Manchester United have been scouting talented midfielder Chris Rigg and have sent scouts to watch him in their last game against Sunderland.

Manchester United’s approach under INEOS is to sign low-risk unproven talents with limited funds and the club are working on signing more youngsters, who will be ready for first team football in 1-3 years.

The club has signed the likes of Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone during the summer of 2024 and recently signed 17-year-old left-back Diego Leon and 18-year-old defender Ayden Heaven from Arsenal who is considered a first team player.

Manchester United are working on more signings like this and Chris Rigg is a player the club has been monitoring in recent months. Rigg is one of the most talented players the Championship has seen since Jude Bellingham.

According to a new report from TalkSport, Manchester United’s scouts were present in Sunderland’s 2-3 victory over Middlesbrough at the weekend to watch 17-year-old midfielder Chris Rigg.

The report stated that Manchester United are running a fresh check on the midfielder ahead of the 2025 summer transfer market. Chris Rigg started the game against Middlesbrough and did well.

Chris Rigg makes his debut for Sunderland in 2023 as he came from the bench against Shrewsbury Town on 7 January. He will turn 18 years old in June and will be looking to secure a move to a top club as Premier League clubs are monitoring him ahead of the summer.

Manchester United has already started to make moves in the market as they prepare for a big summer under Ruben Amorim.

The club only made two signings in the January transfer window despite that Marcus Rashford and Antony Dos Santos left on loan.
