Why did Chido Obi miss the Manchester United under-18s FA Youth Cup game vs Arsenal?

On Friday, Chido Obi-Martin was unavailable for Manchester United’s under-18s FA Youth Cup clash against Arsenal in the quarter-finals.

Manchester United’s under-18s academy team are currently the best in England since last season. Thanks to Adam Lawrence who has done a great job managing the team.

The under-18s proceeded to the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup competition after a 3-2 victory over Arsenal in extra time. Manchester United started the game well and dominated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the first half.

Manchester United’s first goal of the night came from Jack Fletcher whose father Darren was in attendance at the Emirate stadium last night. 15-year-old Arsenal’s Max Dowman scored the equalizer with an amazing finish and gave them the lead from the spot.

Jayden Kamason found the equalizer for the under-18 in the 84th minute of the game with a bullet shot from outside the box. The game ended 2-2 at full-time and Manchester United restored their lead at extra time through Bendito Mantato.

Chido Obi was absent for the under-18s

Chido Obi is one of the best players, if not the best in Manchester United’s academy, he missed the game last night due to senior team involvement. Ruben Amorim’s team will face Fulham on Sunday in the FA Cup and Chido Obi is expected to play a part.

The 17-year-old forward is yet to feature for the academy since he made his first appearance for Manchester United against Tottenham. Ruben Amorim called upon the youngster after the injury problem in the squad.

However, Chido Obi watched the game and congratulated the team after the huge victory over his former club, but couldn’t get to face them.

The FA Youth Cup competition is the most important at the academy level in English football and it’s the competition where you see stars in the making. The likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were promoted to the senior team after their impressive performances in the tournament.
