Jadon Sancho completed a loan move to Chelsea in the summer of 2024 but Fabrizio Romano has given an update on a potential return to Old Trafford.

Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for a fee worth over 70 million pounds, but things didn’t work out for both parties.

Jadon Sancho was signed under Ole Gunnar Solskjær with the England international being his long-term target for the right-wing position. He struggled to hit the ground at Old Trafford under the Norwegian manager even after the club parted ways with him.

Erik ten Hag came in after the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjær but Jadon Sancho fell out with the Dutch manager after he publicly came out and said that the 24-year-old is not training well.

Sancho’s broken relationship with Erik ten Hag and the fans led to his loan move to Borussia Dortmund in 2024 as the club couldn’t secure a permanent move.

However, with Erik ten Hag still in charge at the end of Jadon Sancho’s loan spell at Dortmund, there was no way back for him into the first team.

Jadon Sancho will not return to Old Trafford

Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer. The obligation depends on the position Chelsea will finish at the end of the season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, The Blues are happy with the signing of Jadon Sancho and there’s doubt the club will trigger the obligation to buy clause at the end of the season.

The final fee will be 22 or 25 million pounds depending on the position Chelsea will finish in the Premier League table. The 24-year-old will not return to Manchester United at the end of the season.

Manchester United would look to invest the fee on key positions needed to rebuild Ruben Amorim’s squad next season.
